A tradition for decades the Fireman’s BBQ is good ol fashioned fun that helps raise money for the Fire Department. In the early days, the money raised at the BBQ, was used to buy trucks and equipment. The money still goes directly to the department to help pay for equipment and training of the volunteer fire department. Firemen and members from the community serve up smoked tri tip sandwiches, macaroni salad and of course baked beans. Located at the Gull Lake Park, the whole community can come together. Kids play on the playground while parents and grandparents reconnect with neighbors and old friends. There are also fun games like an egg toss and bouncy house for the kids. There is also a massive raffle. All afternoon people pick up prizes from fishing equipment to free stays at local lodging. At teh end of the day a fishing boat, motor and trailer are raffled off to one lucky winner. This event is free, but food and games will cost you. The fire department is needed and very much appreciated in June.
